Topic: Kyoto from the Outside and Inside
Goals: 1. Watch each other’s kanji videos and learn from the different perspectives and creative approaches.
2. Meet Seigen (清顕) san and explore Kyoto from the inside.
3. Reflect on your own values and ways of thinking through his talk.
Each group shared a video based on their own Kanji.
「今」(Present)
→Even though the video was short, it was easy to capture what they want to tell us because of visual information.
「心」(Heart/Mind)
→It felt as though we were getting a glimpse into each person's life, rather than just seeing something filmed for this project. It was enjoyable to watch. However, because it was slightly long, I think it would have been even better if the images had been more tightly connected to each kanji and the video had been a bit shorter.
「真面目」(diligent/honest)
→The kanji “自” (self), “優” (kindness/excellence), and “直” (honesty/straightforwardness) were well incorporated into a single video. I felt the feeling of anger from them toward the difficulties of being themselves.
(Challenge)
→In terms of consistency, it was a bit lacking. However, because of that, I could strongly feel each individual’s determination towards their new life.
(Fun/Music)
→Each member’s idea of “楽” was expressed through images and videos. While their interpretations of “楽” were different from mine — focusing more on traditional arts and music — that made it very original and interesting to watch.
Asked some question about Kyoto, Kiyomizu temple and Kansu.
Kiyomizu temple is not just tourist spot. We should continue seek the meaning behind the each element there.
🌟''Even the things we take for granted should be questioned. Try to understand their purpose, and consider what is truly right on your own."🌟
comment from week 6:
Let me share one of my sweet family members a.k.a Riku. He is probably about 13years old now. My mom sent this photo to say thank me for the mother's day gift.
The point is please don't be shy to show appreciation or love to your family, friend and partner. Our time in life is limited, so never miss a chance to thank those who matter to you.
